The challenge

Online students don't fail because the content is too hard.

They disengage because no one knows their name. FIU Business — one of the largest and most ambitious online MBA programs in the country — saw the same pattern every cohort: high enrollment, strong content, and a quiet erosion of belonging by week four.

Discussion boards and Zoom breakouts produced posts and attendance, not relationships. Faculty couldn't add another initiative. The team needed something that lived in the flow of a student's day, ran itself, and produced measurable behavior change — not just sentiment.

The approach

30 days. One prompt a day. Peer-visible.

FIU launched the Gamechangers Challenge inside each new cohort as a structured 30-day practice. Every morning, students received one micro-prompt designed to move a single behavior — reaching out, sharing a reflection, making an intro, asking for help. Anonymized peer responses showed students they weren't acting alone.

  • 5 minutes a day — mobile-first, no LMS required
  • Runs alongside any program, no faculty load added
  • Anonymized peer visibility creates social proof
  • Pre/post measurement on belonging, action, and recommendation
  • Same engine, re-tuned per cohort
  • Sponsored and run by the Gamechangers team
"We know that isolation in online learning doesn't just hurt student satisfaction — it drives attrition and robs students of relationships that grow more valuable over their careers. This isn't just about keeping students enrolled; it's about building a relationship with FIU that lasts a lifetime. By those standards, the Gamechangers App is a home run."

What it means

Variability is the norm. Consistency is the signal.

Across six cohorts of different sizes, semesters, and demographics, the outcomes that matter — belonging, peer engagement, emotional wellbeing — never dropped below 82%. That's the difference between a workshop and a system.
